Extreme DARK OLIVE GREEN Masons 1858 Quart
This is about as dark an olive green as you can get, other than black glass! This stunning quart is a smooth lip Mason. There is a large chip on the mouth (see photo), and a small fissure nearby in the threads. But with the cap on, the jar displays as perfect. From the threads down, at least, it is perfect. The color is just as dark as it looks in the photo.....an awesome colored jar!

Quart Dark Olive Green $XXX.XX
SOLD

Pale Colored LIGHTNING Half Gallon
This TRADE MARK LIGHTNING half gallon comes in a golden yellow coloration, with some amber tones in the thicker parts. Color is variegated to near yellow from the neck down about half way, then darker towards the base and in the top. The jar seems to have the very slightest olive tone in certain lighting conditions. More noticeable when placed next to amber Lightning jars. Matching colored lid and original metal. Clean jar with no damage or stains.

Half Gallon Yellow Amber $XXX.XX
SOLD

DEEP Reddish AMBER Quart GLOBE
A beautiful deep reddish amber colored quart GLOBE. This is about as dark a Globe as you can find, other than perhaps the rare black olive amber variety (which sells for $5000 and up!). This lovely jar comes with the correct matching lid and original metal closure. Excellent bright and shiny clean glass, and no damage or stains. The ground rim is thick and perfect. We had three of these dark Globes, and this is the last one remaining. A really nice colored Globe.

Quart Deep Amber $XXX.XX
SOLD

Well-Embossed COLORED MASONS 1858 Quart

This early ground lip Mason comes in an attractive light Olive Green coloration. This style of Mason usually has weak, flattened embossing....but not in this case, as the lettering is much better than normal. Mint condition with shiny clean glass and a perfect ground rim. Fine looking jar.

Quart Light Olive $XXX.XX
SOLD

Trade Mark Lightning OLIVE/YELLOW Quart
A strong example of a quart Lightning, in a real nice color. Has bold and crisp embossing, and is in flawless condition. If you have ever come across an amber Lightning with one of those good olive/yellow lids on it, and wished you could find the jar to match the lid...well, here it is! The color is a good olive/yellow with no trace of the orange tone of amber. A beautiful example too, with shiny clean glass, strong and crisp embossing, and no damage or stains. The lid, which is much easier to find than the jar, is a perfect color match. The ground rim is perfect too. If you collect colored Lightnings, you should definitely consider adding this beauty to your display. This is the last remaining example from a pair of these we obtained. A beautiful jar.

Quart Olive/Yellow $XXX.XX
SOLD

DARK AMBER Quart LIGHTNING
This "TRADE MARK LIGHTNING" comes in an unusually deep amber color. You sometimes find the deep red amber ones with the 8xx series mold number on the base, but this one is an earlier type, with "PUTNAM 190" on the base. These earlier Lightnings are not as common in this darker color. Has sparkling clean glass with some nice crude bubbles. No damage or stains of any kind. The lid is a perfect match, with three patent dates. Nice jar to add to your colored Lightnings display.

Quart Dark Brown Amber $XXX.XX
SOLD

WHITTLED BUCKEYE 3 Quart ALL ORIGINAL
This "BUCKEYE 3" quart comes in an attractive deeper aqua, or perhaps light Ball blue coloration. Has crisp embossing and a lovely overall whittled appearance to the glass. The glass is shiny clean too, with no damage or stains. Correct original closure consisting of the embossed aqua glass lid, and also has a rare original stamped sheet iron clamp, that is in fine condition. Jar has a thick ground rim with normal roughness. A top example of this appealing old jar.

Quart Lt Ball Blue $XXX.XX
SOLD

Rare CITRON/YELLOW Quart GLOBE
This quart Globe comes in a very scarce coloration, that I would describe as Citron/Yellow. It is light yellow with some green tone. The lid does not match, it is light green. No damage of any kind on the jar. Has a very faint trace of deposit on the back, quite minor. Original metal has rust but solid. If you are collecting Globes by color, you might want to give this one serious consideration. This color is very rarely available for sale.

Quart Citron/Yellow $XXXX.XX
SOLD

EAGLE encircled by Dates QUART
An aqua quart with nice embossing. On the front is "EAGLE" encircled by a ring of patent dates. Comes with the original closure...a glass lid and cast iron clamp with star-shaped thumbscrew. The jar is beautifully clean, with no damage or stains. The tooled mouth has some undulations or flakes on the very top rim. The clamp is in nice clean shape with very little rust, and the glass lid is perfect. Nice uncommon and attractive early jar.

Quart Aqua $XXX.XX
SOLD

PINT Amber THE LEADER
A light to medium amber Pint, embossed "THE LEADER". Comes with the original 2-piece metal clamp and original matching colored lid. Nice clean glass has no damage or stains. The ground rim has normal light flaking. A beautiful little jar in a very scarce-to-find size.

Pint Amber $XXX.XX
SOLD

RARE HALF GALLON SIZE WIDE MOUTH GLOBE
The wide mouth Globes are very uncommon, even in the standard quart and pint sizes. But only a few examples are known in this rare Half Gallon size. This is an exceptionally nice example with sparkling clean glass, original iron closure assembly, and no damage or stains. The embossing is sharp, which is uncommon for this series. A highly appealing jar made by the Hemingray Glass Co.

Half Gallon Aqua $XXX.XX
SOLD

HARTELL & LETCHWORTH Patent 1866 Jar w/ ORIGINAL LID
This very crude quart is a real sparkler, and comes with its rare original metal lid. The only lettering is found stamped onto the top of the cap. Hold the lid at the right angle to the light, and you can make out some of the lettering which reads "HARTELL & LETCHWORTH PATENT MAY 22 1866". The lid has three indentions that mate up with three ramps molded into the neck of the jar, and it tightens well. The lid is in excellent condition with only some light rust, and a good old patina. The jar has beautiful glass that is full of bubbles and crudeness. No damage or stains on the jar. A scarce jar that is a beautifully crude example, further enhanced by a rare original lid.

Quart Aqua $XXX.XX
SOLD

Rare BLUE CFJ 1858 Quart
A lovely light blue colored CFJ quart in fine condition. Has good embossing, shiny clean glass, and no damage or stains. The ground rim is decent with some normal thin flakes, and one area that was ground on a slight bevel in the original making. Comes with a real nice CFJ lettered zinc cap with CFJ liner. A beautiful jar to add to your colored CFJ line-up.

Quart Light True Blue $XXX.XX
SOLD

DEEP REDDISH AMBER THE DANDY Half Gallon
A strongly-embossed example of this appealing early jar. This deep reddish amber colored Half gallon is strongly-embossed "TRADE MARK THE DANDY". Correct original matching deep amber lid and metal clamp assembly. Excellent condition throughout, with shiny glass, and no damage or stains. Good ground rim with normal roughness. Fine-looking jar.

Half Gallon Deep Amber $XXX.XX
SOLD

THE KING Original Closure & BALL BLUE Color
This odd-closured quart comes in a deep aqua color that is nearly a full Ball blue. A lovely coloration for this jar. Has good embossing, sparkling clean glass, and no damage or stains. The rim has the usual shearing roughness from incomplete grinding. Original correct matching deep aqua lid, and an original correct 3-piece iron clamp assembly in fine shape. A superb example to add to your display of odd-closured jars.

Quart Medium Ball Blue $XXX.XX
SOLD

OLIVE BALLL MASON with PROFUSE AMBER SWIRLS
This half gallon "BALLL MASON" comes in a good medium olive coloration, with profuse amber swirls from the rim to the base. A strongly-embossed example too, with shiny clean glass and no damage or stains. A beautiful colored jar for your Ball- or colored Masons display.

Half Gallon Olive & Amber $XXX.XX
SOLD

DEEP RED AMBER GLOBE Quart
A stunning deep reddish amber colored GLOBE quart. This is an exceptionally nice example too, with sharp, heavy embossing, matching colored lid, and shiny glass with no damage or stains. I noticed that the lid itself has a small flaw in the glass, beneath the top dimple....a short reflective fissure, that probably occurred in the making. The ground rim on the jar is good with minimal flaking. The base is embossed "43". This example might even be just a slight touch darker than the one we sold here 2 weeks ago. These old Globe jars are very scarce to find in this dark of a color. A real pretty jar.

Quart Deep Reddish Amber $XXX.XX
SOLD

HEAVY WHITTLED WORCESTER JAR
An awesome window jar, this "WORCESTER" half gallon stopper jar has shiny clean glass, and a heavy overall whittled appearance. Sharp embossing too. No damage or stains on the jar. A sparkling beauty!

Half Gallon Aqua $XXX.XX
SOLD

CLEAR BUCKEYE Jar ORIGINAL CLAMP
A rare and unlisted version of this appealing jar. This clear quart is boldly embossed, in large, serified block letters, simply: "BUCKEYE". Comes with a matching clear lid and original stamped sheet iron clamp. The clamp is a marvelous specimen, with original black paint and no rust. The mouth of this jar is unusually thick, and as a result, you can see (on close inspection of the bottom of the lid) where they had to grind on the lower collar of the lid in the original making of the jar, in order for it to fit into the mouth of the jar. There is one small flake on this lower collar. Ground rim of the jar is good with normal light flaking. The jar is in excellent condition, with shiny clean glass and no damage or stains. Has a couple minor exposed bubbles inside the neck. A fine old jar that is seldom seen, especially in clear glass, and rarer yet, with the original clamp.

Quart Clear $XXX.XX
SOLD

FBCo Findlay, Ohio AMBER WAX SEALER
An early applied lip quart wax sealer, in a lovely deep amber coloration. Embossed on the base "F.B.Co." for the Findlay Bottle Co, Findlay, Ohio. An unusually nice specimen, with no damage or stains, including a perfect, undamaged applied ring. There is a thin exposed bubble on the inside of the jar (a manufacturing flaw, no problem). Has nicely crude-looking glass that is shiny and clean. A fine colored jar in great condition.

Quart Amber $XXX.XX
SOLD

COBALT BLUE QUART J&J Jar
This stunning cobalt blue colored, quart-sized product jar is embossed vertically in 2 lines on the front "JOHNSON & JOHNSON NEW YORK". The condition of the jar is superb, with clean and bright glass and no damage or stains. The embossing is strong and crisp. Has a nice ground rim with minimal roughness. Comes with the correct, matching cobalt blue insert, and a good clean zinc band. The insert itself has one flake on the underside, inner edge. If you would like to add some great color to your collection, this lovely jar would be a fine choice. These jars have become very scarce to find. An awesome colored piece of glass for the money!

Quart COBALT BLUE $XXX.XX
SOLD

RARE HALF PINT Sized WAX SEALER
This clear (slight SCA tint) grooved-ring wax sealer is only a HALF PINT in size! This unlisted jar is similar in manufacture to the Potter & Bodine wax sealers, Cohansey barrel wax sealers, and Raus style wax sealers, in that the outer ring was formed by blowing in a mold, and then the completion of the channel was formed by pushing down on the blow pipe to form a grooved ring. The mouth was then sheared, and fire-polished or tooled. Some traces of residue were trapped within the hollow ring in this process. The jar has shiny glass with no damage of any kind, not even a nick on the rim. There is no embossing on the jar. If you collect half pints or odd wax sealers, this rare little jar would certainly make an interesting addition to your display.

Half Pint Clear/SCA $XXX.XX
SOLD

Sparkling AMBER MAGIC STAR Jar ALL ORIGINAL
A fine example of this highly appealing, colored jar. It's a honey-amber colored half gallon with nice character to the glass....a shimmering, lightly-whittled appearance. Also has strong and sharp embossing, and the original matching colored lid and original clamp assembly. Comes in a beautiful honey-amber to yellow-amber coloration, that is somewhat lighter than is depicted in the images. The lid and jar color match perfectly. The 3-piece clamp with cast-iron lever arm is all original and in good shape. Only call to make is on the bottom edge of the glass lid...there's a sliver-bruise type defect right at the bottom edge. This is on the lid only, and a typical usage flaw. This dandy jar is essentially perfect condition, with no damage or stains, including an excellent ground rim. Great jar.

Half Gallon Honey Amber $XXXX.XX
SOLD

HEMINGRAY 1860 WAX SEALER Scarce NARROW Style
This crude green-aqua colored quart has strong, crisp embossing in 2 lines of serified block letters "PATENT SEPT. 18. 1860". This is the seldom-seen mold variant that is about the same size as a standard quart wax sealer jar (Redbook 9 listing is 2298). The more common jar is much wider in size. Full of bubbles, and shiny clean with no damage or stains. Has normal flaking of the sheared rim. A beautiful early jar.

Quart Hemingray Green-Aqua $XXX.XX
SOLD

OLIVE/YELLOW Colored LIGHTNING QUART
A lovely and scarce colored Lightning quart. If you have you have ever seen an amber Lightning with one of those good olive/yellow lids on it, and wished you could find the jar to match the lid...well, here finally, is one of the jars! The color is a good olive/yellow with no trace of the orange tone of amber. A beautiful example too, with shiny clean glass, strong and crisp embossing, and no damage or stains. The lid, which is much easier to find than the jar, is a perfect color match. Good ground rim. If you collect colored Lightnings, you should definitely consider adding this beauty to your display. Great-looking jar.

Quart Olive/Yellow $XXX.XX
SOLD

Rare SCRANTON JAR w/ODD CLOSURE
This aqua quart is one of only a very few jars that used wood as part of the closure mechanism. This interesting jar is embossed in three lines of block letters: "THE SCRANTON JAR". Nice condition and complete with the original 6-piece closure assembly, including the neck wire, 2 shaped iron brackets, wooden spool, and clamp wire, along with the original aqua glass lid. The metal is in good condition with light surface rust. The glass is in good shape with no damage or stains. The ground rim has a few typical flakes. This jar the second and final specimen from a matching pair of these we recently found. A very appealing old jar that is seldom found for sale.

Quart Aqua $XXXX.XX
SOLD

ECLIPSE JAR All Original HALF GALLON
A good strong aqua-colored half gallon "ECLIPSE JAR" with matching Eclipse lid. This is a particularly bold example, with heavy and crisp embossing, as well as shiny, crude glass with a light overall whittled effect. The correct matching lid is also in good shape with very little wear, and no chips on the glass threads. For whatever reason, these jars are very seldom found with the right lid...and the Eclipse lids are tough to get. The color of this jar reminds me of some of the Hemingray jars....kind of a nice deeper green-aqua. Has one minor exposed bubble on the interior, but no damage or stains. A beautiful piece of early glass.

Half Gallon Green Aqua $XXX.XX
SOLD

HOOSIER JAR QUART
A superb example of this rare jar. And this excellent specimen still retains the original glass Hoosier lid. The jar has good embossing, and no damage or stains, including an essentially perfect ground rim. The lid is in nice condition as well, with only a tiny flake on the underside edge. The threads have no chips, and it tightens smoothly. The jar is embossed on the base "2". You might look for a very long time to find any examples of this jar for sale, let alone such a fine specimen!

Quart Green Aqua $XXXX.XX
SOLD

APPLE GREEN LIGHTNING QUART
A bright Apple Green colored Trade Mark Lightning. This quart has very nice color, crisp embossing, matching colored lid, and no damage or stains. This appealing yellow-green color is surprisingly hard to find in a Lightning. This beautifully-colored specimen would enhance any display of early or colored fruit jars.

Quart Apple Green $XXX.XX
SOLD

DEEP AMBER CFJCo 1858 MASON
This CFJCo Mason quart comes in a nice deeper reddish amber coloration, and is in bright & clean condition. Has strong and crisp embossing, and no damage or stains. There is one shallow chip on the very top rim. A great looking old Mason variety that is getting very tough to come by.

Quart Deep Amber $XXX.XX
SOLD

VAN VLIET IMPROVED QUART
An aqua quart embossed "VAN VLIET IMPROVED PATD MAY3-81". A sparkling clean jar with an interesting closure system. The embossing is strong, and there is no damage or stains on the jar. The ground rim is good, with minor flaking. Has the original aqua glass lid with 1881 date. The metal clamp is a replica....a very good one, that is nearly impossible to tell from an original. This uncommon variety has raised lettering under the base that serve as tiny "feet" for the jar. The glass has a nice crude texture, and is shiny clean. There is a small flaw on the bottom at the embossed "VV"....a small partially open bubble which is merely a minor manufacturing defect. The Improved Van Vliet style jar is seldom found, and this is a great-looking example.

Quart Aqua $XXX.XX
SOLD

COBALT BLUE FCGCo WAX SEALER
This early applied lip wax sealer comes in a fantastic strong cobalt blue coloration. A rare and wonderfully appealing color. Embossed on the base "FCGCo" between parallel lines. The initials stood for the Falls City Glass Co of Louisville, Kentucky. A beautiful specimen with no damage or stains of any kind. Has minimal light wear. The crudely applied mouth has no damage at all, which is very uncommon for a wax sealer. Has a tiny undulation on the outer rim from the original manufacturing, but surprisingly, not even a single nick. Here is a rare opportunity to acquire a fabulous-colored fruit jar in remarkable condition.

Quart Cobalt Blue $XXXX.XX
SOLD

SQUARE SHOULDER MILLVILLE Jar ALL ORIGINAL
This is the rare variety flat-shouldered or square-shouldered Millville jar. Comes with its scarce original domed glass lid and large, arched iron clamp with thumbscrew. The jar and closure are in beautiful condition with no damage or stains at all. The glass is nice and shiny, and the embossing is strong on both the front and back. A beautiful example of this primitive-looking early jar, that is rarely found in such fine condition.

Half Gallon Aquamarine $XXX.XX
SOLD

DARK AMBER GLOBE
This quart Globe comes in the darkest amber color these can be found in, other than the rare black amber variety. A lovely example, with large and strong embossing, original matching dark amber glass lid, and original iron closure. Bubbly and crude looking glass, which has no damage or stains. Has a extra-thick ground rim, with very little flaking. If you collect Globes by color, you need to add this deep-colored specimen to your display. It is a very nice example.

Quart Deep Amber $XXX.XX
SOLD

MASONS 1858 BALL-MADE YELLOW-GREEN
This Improved-Style Mason's 1858 half gallon comes in a lovely yellowish-green, or perhaps light citron coloration. These are thought to have been made by the Ball Bros of Buffalo, NY in the 1880's. Comes with the correct Ball-Style zinc band, and a ball "Star & Crescent" insert (green-aqua) in nice condition. The jar is shiny and clean and in excellent condition. Has a good ground rim, and no damage. There is one small exposed bubble on the inside. There is a manufacturing flaw on the back, which appears as a vertical scrape, where the jar was touched while the glass was still hot. These jars are fairly common in aqua, but rarely seen in any other color. This appealing jar would make a nice addition to any Mason or Ball collection.

Half Gallon Light Yellow Green $XXX.XX
